Bio-Sketch

View my Bio-sketch video here:

I have been part of the Maricopa Community College District for over 11 years, where I have built my career around shared governance, employee engagement, and student success. My professional experiences include working in Human Resources, managing projects, providing administrative leadership, and most notably serving a two-year term as Co-President of Staff Representation. In that role, I collaborated directly with the Chancellor, the Governing Board, and the presidents of all ten colleges to ensure staff voices were represented in shaping policy and practice. I also presented monthly to the Governing Board, co-chaired district-wide councils, and worked extensively on initiatives related to governance, benefits, and employee advocacy.

While working full-time at Maricopa, I also completed my bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration, which gave me a deep appreciation for the challenges students face balancing school, work, and family responsibilities. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University and completing an internship with the District’s Neutral Services Office. Under the mentorship of the Director, I am learning mediation practices and training in interest-based negotiations (IBN), further strengthening my ability to build collaborative solutions and positive work climates.

Before my career at Maricopa, I worked as an Office Manager where I supervised staff and oversaw front office operations. While completing my degree, I coordinated a large volunteer project where I organized a team, ordered shirts, and led an effort to clean up a neighborhood, remove trash, refresh yards, and provide light repairs. That project reinforced my passion for community service and my ability to mobilize people around a shared purpose.

My leadership journey began even earlier as a Girl Scout, where I earned the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. Later, I became a troop leader for my niece’s troop, where I taught young girls camping, survival skills, and teamwork. These experiences shaped my leadership style and instilled a lifelong commitment to service, collaboration, and empowerment. Today, in my role at Mesa Community College as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Enrollment Services, I continue to build on those values, working to create environments where both staff and students thrive.
